'(20 Oct 2010) STORYLINE JOHN MALKOVICH SWAPS THE RED CARPET FOR THE CATWALK IN SHANGHI Shanghai Fashion Week opened Wednesday (20 Oct. 2010) in Fuxing Park, central Shanghai, showing the Spring/Summer 2011 collections. The Chinese multi-brand Seven Days opened the festival with a runway show featuring eight designers, including John Malkovich and Italian designer Riccardo Rami, each with distinctive styles. The show brought the designers works together with themes, which were shown by the way the models\' makeup and hair were arranged. The themes expressed related to Urban Life, Inner Being, and Return. John Malkovich, renowned actor, this time starred in a different role - that of a designer. His menswear collection was featured in the Seven Days show. After the show he was enthusiastic about how it all came off. \"I loved it, I loved the show, I loved the way Mr. Ding (Mr. Ding Wei Seven Days CEO) mixed things up. I thought the models were terrific and you know I\'ve sat through more than one of these things.\" The show was well received by the fashion media that attended. Fashion Editor Zhong Yi said some styles that caught her eye could well translate to the wider market: \"There were a few brands that I thought would be accepted by the Chinese market, for example the user-friendly looks, rock look, the leather look, the men\'s fashion. But some of the transparent looks I don\'t think most people would wear, but they\'re more conceptual, so maybe only the fashion-forward crowd would try it,\" said Yi.
