'Take a look at this beautiful Passive House family home. Mike and Barb Morehead wanted to build their retirement house that was also ecological sound, and a house that they could share and enjoy with their children and grandchildren. In this video, Mike and Barb describe that because of their age, they didn’t want things that they would have to repair or repaint later on. Mike thought building a Passive House would be exactly what they needed, whereas Barb was a little more hesitant as she thought to have a Passive House meant they would have an ugly house. Can you have a normal house that is also a Passive House? Turns out you can! Not only is does this house look “normal”, but it has a Farmhouse feel and ties in beautifully with the barn. The house is so energy efficient that the temperature doesn’t fluctuate, and they actually had the heat pump off for 6 weeks and the temperature barely budged. They are still getting money back on their electricity bill from the solar panels. Family is of huge importance to the Moreheads.
