Produced by J.C.Staff and directed by Yoshitomo Yonetani, the series was first announced in October 2014 by Shueisha.[1] The series aired in Japan on MBS\' Animeism programming block between April 3, 2015 and September 25, 2015 and was simulcast by Crunchyroll.[2] Sentai Filmworks licensed the series for digital and home video distribution in North America.[3] The second season, Food Wars: The Second Plate, aired from July 2, 2016 to September 24, 2016.
